Last weekend in Olbia, Sardinia, the Aprilia Tuareg Rally once again demonstrated its exceptional off-road credentials after securing victory in the Sardinian round of the FIM Europe Baja Championship in remarkably standard form. The Aprilia Tuareg Racing team and rider Jacopo Cerutti, already dominant figures in both Italian and European rally raid competition and two-time winners of the gruelling Africa Eco Race, entered the event aboard a production-specification Tuareg Rally identical to the model available in Aprilia dealerships. The result was extraordinary. Cerutti claimed overall victory across the challenging Sardinian stages, proving once again that the Tuareg Rally has become one of the benchmark machines in the world of twin-cylinder off-road adventure motorcycles.

Perhaps most impressive was how close the race bike remained to the standard road-going model. The only significant modifications included specialised rally tyres fitted to replacement wheel rims with foam inserts, alongside an Öhlins rear shock absorber. Additional changes were limited to competition handlebars, seat and navigation equipment designed to replicate Cerutti’s preferred riding ergonomics. The victory further reinforces Aprilia’s claim that the Tuareg Rally is effectively a competition-ready adventure motorcycle straight from the factory, developed specifically for riders seeking serious off-road capability without sacrificing everyday usability.

Its rally-inspired design is immediately evident through features such as the high front mudguard, reinforced aluminium skid plate and heavy-duty hand guards with aluminium cores. A chain guide also comes fitted as standard, enhancing protection and reliability during extreme off-road riding. Ergonomics have also been specifically tailored for demanding terrain. The Tuareg Rally features a saddle positioned 20mm higher than the standard Tuareg to improve rider movement between seated and standing positions, while a revised handlebar shape further enhances off-road control. The bike rides on narrow-spoke Ergal wheels fitted with knobby tyres and inner tubes, while the Kayaba suspension system delivers an impressive 240mm of travel. Aprilia has also revised the suspension internals and spring setup specifically for more aggressive off-road riding, helping improve rider feedback and control across rough terrain.

A dedicated engine mapping has also been developed for the Tuareg Rally, designed to sharpen throttle response and provide immediate power delivery when tackling difficult obstacles and technical sections off-road. Further emphasising its sporting character is the inclusion of a dedicated SC Project exhaust system featuring a full titanium silencer and racing-inspired end cap design. Despite its rugged specification and serious off-road capability, the Aprilia Tuareg Rally maintains an impressively low total weight of just 199kg, thanks in part to its lightweight wheel and exhaust setup.

With a major rally victory now achieved on what is effectively a showroom-standard motorcycle, the Tuareg Rally continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the most capable and authentic adventure bikes currently available.
