Haynes Motor Museum has announced the introduction of the Motorcycle Zone at their inaugural John Haynes Classic Motor Show taking place on 7th September. Marking 40 years since John Haynes OBE founded Haynes Motor Museum in July 1985, the event will celebrate his legacy and passion for the motor vehicle. Set across five outdoor zones surrounding the Museum, the show will feature a full programme of displays, demonstrations, talks and interactive activities. The Motorcycle Zone will showcase classic models and the latest innovations in motorcycling. Maeving, a pioneering British electric motorcycle company, will be at the show with a range of their distinctive bikes, all with a classic feel. Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to see demonstrations and have test rides over the course of the day. As the UK’s first electric motorcycle manufacturer, Maeving’s bikes bring a sense of classic design and engineering mixed with modern technology.
Also confirmed within the zone are local dealers, Riders Motorcycles who have been working on bikes for almost 50 years, specialising in Ducati, Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles. They will be displaying a selection of their current fleet. Joining Maeving and Riders will also be a number of motorcycles from the Museum’s collection alongside members from The Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club (VJMC), showcasing iconic bikes from Japan’s golden era of motorcycling. The Motorcycle Zone will be a space where enthusiasts and those attending the show have the chance to have a chat with like-minded people, share stories and find out more about what makes classic motorcycling so popular. Alongside the Motorcycle Zone will be ‘Machines & Their Manuals’, a special display of vehicles which have been encapsulated by the world-famous Haynes workshop manuals. This display will celebrate John Haynes’s unique ability to explain complex engineering in a logical and easy to follow way, using the manuals to communicate cars and motorcycles in a way that is accessible to all.
Other highlights at the John Haynes Classic will include the ‘Owners Car and Motorcycle Club Zone’ and ‘Classics Row’ which will provide a spectacular backdrop, featuring hundreds of classic cars and motorcycles, creating a stunning display. The Live Show Paddock will be full of captivating talks, lively debates, from speakers such as Edd China, Jon Bentley and Iain Tyrrell alongside a special vehicle parade from the Haynes Heritage Engineering team. The Discovery Zone will offer a dynamic mix of hands-on workshops, engaging demonstrations, and interactive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), activities, sparking curiosity in adults and children alike. Finally, the Market will showcase a carefully curated selection of food, drink, and crafts from talented artisans alongside automotive exhibitor stands featuring products, services, and collectables for vintage, classic, and modern vehicles.
As an Arts Council England accredited Museum and charity, the John Haynes Classic is a fundraising event. Proceeds generated will support the Museum’s ongoing charitable aims of delivering learning activities, inspiring future generations as well as conserving and preserving its motoring heritage collection. Tickets for this event are available exclusively through the John Haynes Classic website.
