BMW Motorrad has expanded its lightweight motorcycle range with the introduction of the new F 450 RR, a 48hp supersport machine designed to deliver genuine racing character while remaining accessible to A2 licence holders. Developed as a standalone model within BMW’s F 450 family, the new RR takes its styling inspiration from the flagship S 1000 RR, featuring aggressive bodywork, aerodynamic winglets, a distinctive LED headlight and a pronounced nose-down, tail-up riding stance.

Power comes from a newly developed 420cc parallel-twin engine, first introduced in the F 450 GS but specifically tuned for supersport use. Producing 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm of torque at 6,750rpm, the engine features a 135-degree crankpin offset for distinctive power delivery and reduced vibration. BMW claims fuel consumption of just 3.8 litres per 100km, giving the F 450 RR a potential range exceeding 350km from its 14-litre fuel tank.

The motorcycle uses a tubular steel frame with the engine acting as a stressed member, while suspension duties are handled by a 43mm KYB upside-down front fork and a KYB rear shock mounted to an aluminium swingarm. Sport versions benefit from additional suspension adjustment. Braking comes courtesy of a 310mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc calliper, supported by a 240mm rear disc. Standard electronic rider aids include cornering ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control and engine drag torque control.

Three riding modes, Rain, Road and Race, are fitted as standard, while a six-speed gearbox is complemented by BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro on all but the entry-level model. An interesting addition is BMW’s optional Easy Ride Clutch, which allows riders to pull away, stop and change gears without manually operating the clutch when combined with Shift Assistant Pro. The F 450 RR features clip-on handlebars, a 790mm seat height and a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and navigation functionality. A reversible gearshift pattern is also available for riders planning occasional track use.

Four versions will be offered, beginning with the Cosmic Black Base model, followed by the Racing Red Sport and two M Sport variants finished in BMW’s distinctive Motorsport colours. The flagship M Sport with Innovation Package includes the Easy Ride Clutch system. With its combination of lightweight engineering, premium components and comprehensive electronics, the F 450 RR represents an interesting new addition to the increasingly competitive A2 supersport category.
