French motorcycle protection specialist Furygan has expanded its rider safety range with the launch of the Fury Airbag Lady, its first airbag system developed specifically for female motorcyclists. Rather than simply adapting an existing product, Furygan says the new airbag has been developed using feedback and fitting sessions with female riders. The result is a new women-specific fit designed to provide high levels of protection without compromising comfort or freedom of movement. The Fury Airbag Lady is designed to work across a wide range of motorcycle disciplines, with five detection modes available: Road, Track, Adventure, Motocross and Adventure Race. This allows riders to configure the system according to the type of riding they are doing.
It is also Furygan’s lightest airbag to date and features what the company describes as 100 per cent ventilation. A combination of mesh and airmesh materials is used throughout, while highly stretchable side sections allow the vest to adapt to different body shapes. At the heart of the system is In&Motion’s smart, self-learning airbag technology. The system can detect an incident and trigger the airbag in less than 0.06 seconds, providing protection to four key areas: the neck, chest, abdomen and spine. Following deployment, the inflator can be replaced by the rider rather than requiring the vest to be returned for servicing. Furygan says the system can be triggered up to five times before the airbag cushion itself needs to be replaced.
Another useful feature is compatibility with motorcycle jackets, meaning riders aren’t restricted to using the airbag with a particular Furygan outer garment. The new Furygan Airbag Lady will be offered in Black/Emerald Green and in sizes ranging from S to 2XL. For Furygan, the arrival of its first dedicated women’s airbag represents an important addition to its protective equipment range, particularly as increasingly sophisticated electronic airbag technology becomes more accessible to everyday road and adventure riders.
