Royal Enfield is celebrating a landmark year for the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, with the adventure bike recording its strongest global sales performance to date. Excluding India, annual sales have grown by more than 53 per cent, further cementing the Himalayan’s reputation as one of the most versatile and capable motorcycles in the mid size adventure segment. Originally launched in 2016, and now celebrating a decade in production, the Himalayan marked Royal Enfield’s entry into the 400cc category with a motorcycle designed to handle everything from daily commuting to serious adventure riding. Built around the idea of accessible capability, the Himalayan quickly developed a loyal following among riders looking for a machine equally comfortable in cities, on highways, and far beyond the tarmac.

That philosophy evolved further with the launch of the all new Himalayan 450 in 2023. Completely redesigned from the ground up and powered by Royal Enfield’s new Sherpa engine platform, the latest generation model brought a major leap forward in refinement, performance, and off road ability while staying true to the simplicity and ruggedness that made the original such a success. The bike’s popularity has continued to grow worldwide. After selling more than 9,600 units globally during its launch year in 2023, annual sales have now surpassed 38,000 units, underlining the expanding appeal of mid size adventure touring motorcycles across international markets.

The Himalayan has also strengthened Royal Enfield’s presence globally, particularly in markets such as Brazil where it has become one of the best selling motorcycles in its class. In the UK, the Himalayan 450 has built a strong reputation for its versatility both on and off road. Recent highlights include its use in partnership with the British Army and a class win at the demanding Valleys X-Treme Lite event in Wales. Royal Enfield also introduced the new Himalayan Mana Black edition in 2025. Inspired by the legendary Mana Pass, one of the world’s highest and most challenging mountain routes, the new version reflects the growing appetite for adventure touring among riders worldwide.

Part of the Himalayan’s appeal has always been its ability to go beyond conventional adventure riding. The motorcycle has circumnavigated the globe multiple times and has become a trusted companion for riders undertaking some of the world’s toughest journeys. Looking ahead, the Himalayan is expected to be one of the standout attractions at the upcoming Adventure Bike Rider Festival, one of the world’s best known adventure motorcycling events. While the motorcycle continues to evolve, Royal Enfield says the Himalayan remains deeply connected to the region that inspired it. Through experiences such as the Himalayan Odyssey and the Great Himalayan Exploration, the brand continues to build a worldwide community centred around exploration, adventure, and the spirit of pure motorcycling.
