Royal Enfield marked its 125th anniversary with a major showcase at the Rome Marathon, celebrating its long heritage while looking ahead to the future of motorcycling. Partnering with one of Europe’s most iconic sporting events, the brand connected with more than 40,000 runners from 166 countries, reinforcing its philosophy of freedom, exploration and pure motorcycling. Ahead of the marathon, a formation of 23 Royal Enfield motorcycles rode through Rome’s historic streets, passing landmarks such as the Colosseum, Circo Massimo, Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Navona. Leading the procession was the new Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle, making its first public appearance on European roads outside of testing. Finished in camouflage, the model offered a glimpse of Royal Enfield’s electric future while maintaining a strong link to its heritage.
The Flying Flea represents a significant step for the brand, combining classic design cues with modern electric performance. Developed by a team of 200 engineers and supported by more than 45 patents, it reflects Royal Enfield’s ambition to embrace new technologies while staying true to its identity. Positioned as a solution for urban riders, it signals the company’s move towards sustainable mobility. Alongside this forward looking model, Royal Enfield also paid tribute to its past with a display of historic machines. These included the brand’s first motorised vehicle from 1901, a 225cc model from 1921, a 700cc Meteor from 1953 and a competition ready Bullet Trails from 1957, highlighting more than a century of engineering evolution.
The event also demonstrated the practical side of the current Royal Enfield range. A fleet of 30 motorcycles supported marathon operations, including stewards and media teams, using models such as the Guerrilla 450 and Himalayan 450, both well suited to the varied road conditions of the route. In addition, members of the Riders Club of Europe took part in the celebrations, showcasing Royal Enfield’s modern 350 to 650cc line up. The weekend also included a special anniversary ride, with 125 riders covering 125 kilometres through the Italian countryside.
Royal Enfield’s global anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the year.
