The new BMW R 1300 RS is a sport-touring motorcycle that blends advanced technology, refined ergonomics, and a dynamic design. Built to enhance both visual appeal and technical performance, this latest RS model offers a more aggressive look and significantly sportier characteristics. BMW Motorrad aimed to elevate the riding experience with features that suit both spirited riding and comfortable touring.

Four versions of the R 1300 RS are available: the standard model in Racing Blue metallic, a stealthier Triple Black variant in Blackstorm metallic, the performance-focused Lightwhite uni version, and the premium Option 719 Cuyamaca in Brooklyn Grey metallic.

Central to its development is a new 1300 cc boxer engine, which produces 145 hp and 149 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful boxer engine in BMW production history. With a redline of 9,000 rpm, this engine delivers smooth power and greater efficiency. Three standard riding modes—Rain, Road, and Eco—enable adaptation to different riding conditions. Optional “Riding Modes Pro” introduces two additional modes: Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. Standard engine drag torque control (MSR) helps stabilize the bike during deceleration or gear changes by regulating rear-wheel slip.

Ergonomically, the R 1300 RS is sportier than its predecessor, with flatter handlebars and rear-set footrests that position the rider more forward. This configuration offers improved feedback from the front wheel and greater control in spirited riding while still accommodating long-distance comfort. Various seat options and comfort handlebars allow riders to tailor ergonomics to personal preference. For touring, an all-new luggage system is available, including electrified side cases and a topcase with central locking and interior lighting. A strapless tank bag also mounts via a tank ring.

The chassis has been completely reworked with a new steel sheet metal main frame and a die-cast aluminium rear frame, replacing the previous tubular steel design. This redesign contributes to a more compact layout and mass centralization, improving handling, braking stability, and ease of control. Suspension updates include a new upside-down 47 mm telescopic fork at the front and a reengineered EVO Paralever system at the rear.

The R 1300 RS also benefits from new 17-inch aluminium hollow-spoke wheels, which reduce weight by over 1.4 kg. These lighter wheels enhance acceleration, braking response, and overall handling. Suspension is further advanced with optional Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA), which adjusts damping, spring rate, and load compensation based on riding mode and conditions. The adjustable spring rate function makes the RS one of the first production motorcycles to offer this level of front fork adaptability.

The braking system includes dual front disc brakes with four-piston radial calipers and a rear disc brake, supported by Integral ABS Pro for added safety. An optional sport brake upgrade offers titanium-coloured calipers and a slight boost in stopping power.

Lighting is fully LED, including a redesigned twin-chamber headlight with low and high beams, daytime running lights, and a sleek tail light. For the first time on a BMW RS model, the optional Headlight Pro adds an adaptive turning light that adjusts beam direction based on lean angle for improved night-time corner visibility.

For rider assistance and safety, the RS includes Dynamic Cruise Control with braking function. The optional Riding Assistant package adds Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning (SWW), and Rear-End Collision Warning (RECW), enhancing rider confidence and comfort during longer journeys or dense traffic.

An electrically lockable mount cradle for navigation devices or smartphones is available as an option, offering a more convenient and secure way to integrate navigation systems without requiring a key.

The R 1300 RS also offers a wide array of BMW Motorrad accessories and optional equipment, from milled footrests and short levers to sport seats, high windshields, and additional ergonomic or touring upgrades. All elements come together to make the R 1300 RS a high-performance, customizable sports tourer that suits both daily riding and long-distance adventure.
