LiveWire Group has announced the acquisition of the assets of Dust Moto, marking a significant move into the growing electric off-road motorcycle market. The deal expands LiveWire’s ambitions beyond road-focused electric motorcycles and strengthens its position within the wider electric powersports sector. The off-road EV market continues to grow as riders look for the instant torque and performance electric drivetrains can offer, alongside quieter operation, lower maintenance requirements, and simpler riding experiences through single-speed transmission systems.

As part of the acquisition, LiveWire will now advance Dust Moto’s electric dirt bike platform towards production. The company says it plans to use its existing engineering resources, manufacturing capabilities, and global sales and service network to accelerate development and bring the product to market more quickly.

Speaking about the acquisition, Karim Donnez said the move builds on LiveWire’s long-term strategy within electric two-wheel mobility.

“LiveWire pioneered the on-road electric motorcycle market, and this acquisition allows us to expand that leadership into the off-road space, Dust Moto brings valuable off-road expertise and is a strong strategic fit for our long-term vision within electric powersports.”

Colin Godby described the deal as an important next step for the company.

“LiveWire shares our focus on performance, innovation, and rider experience,” he said. “With LiveWire’s scale, resources, and global reach, we now have the opportunity to bring our electric off-road motorcycle to a much wider audience.”

The acquisition forms part of LiveWire’s broader strategy to expand its product lineup and grow its presence across different areas of the electric motorcycle and powersports market. The company says further details on the new off-road product are expected to be revealed later this year.
