The Aprilia X 250TH was unveiled by Aprilia Racing during the United States Grand Prix as a highly exclusive, track-only machine inspired directly by MotoGP technology. Created to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the model is limited to just 30 units, with 25 allocated to the U.S. market. Its distinctive “Stars and Stripes” livery reflects this celebratory theme and underlines its collectible status.
Technically, the X 250TH represents a significant leap forward and is positioned as one of the most advanced motorcycles ever offered to private buyers. It is the first production bike to feature carbon-carbon braking discs, the same type used in MotoGP. These brakes are lighter than traditional steel systems and deliver exceptional, consistent stopping power even under extreme conditions, closely matching the performance of a full MotoGP prototype.
Aerodynamics play a central role in the bike’s design. Drawing heavily from the RS-GP race machine, the X 250TH incorporates advanced features such as seat wings, tail wings, and additional aerodynamic elements that enhance downforce and stability. A patented ground-effect system further increases grip during cornering by generating load when the bike is leaned over. Extensive use of carbon fibre, including a structural seat support and full bodywork, keeps weight low while maintaining rigidity. The aerodynamic package significantly improves stability on straights and grip in corners, bringing the riding experience closer to that of a professional race bike.
Power comes from a 1099 cc V4 engine developed to Superbike racing specifications. It produces 240 horsepower and 131 Nm of torque, achieved through upgrades such as a higher compression ratio, racing air intake components, a titanium exhaust system, and a dry clutch. This combination delivers extreme performance, supported by a lightweight chassis and premium components including Öhlins suspension and forged magnesium wheels.
The electronics package is equally sophisticated. Managed by the Aprilia Racing APX control unit, the system allows full adjustability of parameters such as traction control, engine braking, and power delivery for each gear. An integrated GPS system enhances data analysis and setup, enabling riders to tailor performance to specific tracks and riding styles.
The X 250TH continues Aprilia’s “X” series, a line of ultra-exclusive models that bridge the gap between factory race bikes and production machines. Previous versions have established a reputation among collectors and track enthusiasts, and this latest iteration pushes the concept even further.
Each bike is finished with high-end materials and racing-derived components, including billet aluminium parts and carbon fibre elements throughout. Buyers also receive a range of exclusive accessories, such as a dedicated laptop for managing the bike’s electronics, paddock stands, tyre warmers, and custom covers.
Priced at the very top of the market, the Aprilia X 250TH is not road legal and is aimed at experienced riders, collectors, and those seeking a machine that delivers an experience as close as possible to MotoGP. It stands as a showcase of Aprilia Racing’s engineering expertise and its commitment to transferring cutting-edge racing technology to a select group of customers.
