World Ducati week

04 February, 2016

World Ducati week takes place again this year at the famous Italian circuit of Misano from the 1st until the 3rd of July. This event is one of the major features in the European bike calendar. If you ride a Ducati you’re going to want to be at this one and if you ride another brand it’s a spectacular rally and one not to be missed.

A trip to the iconic circuit wouldn’t be complete without getting a few laps in and that’s just part of what’s on offer. In the pit lane there will be a host of stars from the world of racing, including Casey Stoner, on hand. The factory engineers will be available for the weekend with presentations running sessions explaining the technical details of the fleet.

There is, of course, a factory store as well as food, live music and great company. This year is Ducati’s 90th anniversary and as such the event promises to be even bigger than ever. As well as Moto GP and World Superbikes to drool over, there will be bikes such as the new X-Diavel to test ride.

The team from Rosso Ducati has joined forces with bike transport specialists, Overlanders, to transport your machine from the shop in Dublin’s Ballymount to the airport at Bologna and back again, saving you the hassle of riding back and forth across Europe.

The lads have a rather excellent transport system with each bike being packed in its own metal crate before being loaded onto one of the company’s own trucks. The guys from Overlanders do all their own driving, ride bikes themselves and look after the whole process from start to finish.

The costs aren’t prohibitive with sports bikes costing €730 for the round trip and €780 for Touring or adventure type machinery. Factor in ferries to the UK, a channel tunnel crossing as well as the overnight somewhere between here and Misano, then double it for the return trip and all of a sudden the shipping costs make a lot of sense. Add in the fact that all your riding kit can go on the truck and it’s simply a no brainer!

Once again the bikes will be transported to a warehouse adjacent to Bologna Airport from Rosso Ducati and will be available from the 30th June Bologna Airport. There’s an option to return your bike on either the 5th or 12th of July from Memmingen or the 16th July from Bologna.

The team at Overlanders run trucks to events all over Europe and even further afield and are available on 05394 224 15 and Keith at Rosso Ducati is on 01 464 2211. The entire effort is being facilitated by Celtic Horizon Tours, our favorite fully bonded tour operator, on 01629 2000. Make the call; it’ll be a trip to remember!
